Updated Standings - thru December 21st

Chris Duff, who conveniently sent me TEN $2 bills to cover his entries fees, sits atop our leaderboard after 9 games of action.  Last year's winner, Chris Predieri, is the early favorite to take home the Angie Guidi Award for Lack of Achievement.

Just one game again tonight, as the Vandals and Rams lock horns in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.  If this game was being played in the Kibbie Dome instead of on the stupid blue turf in Boise, I'd take the Vandals all day long.  But I have a hunch the 91.3% of Bowl Pick 'Em participants who went with Colorado St. are on the right track.  If Idaho can squeak one out, it's a great opportunity for Seth Bancroft and a couple members of the Rosenwald clan to gain ground on the field.  That's the type of movement you need to finish in the money.

Good luck everyone.

Bowl Pick 'Em Update - Jerseys of Hope

So before too many of you become mathematically eliminated and stop reading my posts, I wanted to take a moment to mention Jerseys of Hope again this year.  Longtime Baddest Bowl Pick 'Em Ever participant John Biemer founded Jerseys of Hope after cancer invaded his family's life, as it has done to millions of people.

While visiting his mother in a Baltimore-area hospital, he became inspired by the sense of community he saw when groups of patients would gather to cheer on the Ravens.  For a few hours on a Sunday, those patients were filled with "a buzz of life and energy", as John put it.  After his mother's passing, Jerseys of Hope was founded to carry on her legacy and "to promote the weekly sense of community these patients were able to feel when, for an afternoon, they could forget about being a patient, and enjoy being a sports fan."

So as we are now in the Holiday season, please take a minute to think if there is a way you can help this cause in any way whatsoever.  Here's how you can help:

1) Donate new or gently used jerseys.  Maybe your kid has grown out of his or her Braxton Miller by now.  Or you've had a Johnny Manziel jersey hanging in your closet that you got as a White Elephant gift.  The size or team affiliation is irrelevant.  There are three bin locations in the Central Ohio area.  Those of you who are not local to Columbus can send direct to:

Jerseys of Hope
7061 Bowermoss Drive
New Albany, OH 43054

2) Monetary donation.  Jerseys of hope accepts cash, check, or PayPal donations.  PAYPAL, I said!  You can donate with just a few clicks.  Jerseys of Hope is a 501(c), which means your donation is tax deductible.

3) Volunteer.  You can sign up on the Jerseys of Hope website and they will notify you of volunteer opportunities.

Thank you for your continued participation in Baddest Bowl Pick 'Em and thank you in advance for supporting this cause that is near and dear to one of our participants.  Feel free to check out www.jerseysofhope.com for more information.

Merry Christmas,
Kenon

Okay so the Hilljackers done handled their business tonight.  Angie Guidi's run at 42-0 is stopped short after 7 straight victories.  Jeff Crouse impressively just ONE correct pick so far.

Tomorrow night.  MORMONS.  COWBOYS. 9:00 PM EST.

Updated Standings - thru December 17th

101 entries, only one person went a perfect 6 for 6 yesterday and, by God, it was Angie Guidi.  For those of you new to Baddest Bowl Pick 'Em, Angie Guidi is the namesake of the now renowned Angie Guidi Award for Lack of Achievement.  Let's just say, Angie is not known for her bowl pick prowess.  But Bowl Pick 'Em is like a spontaneous weekend trip to Vegas -- you never know what's going to happen, except it's guaranteed that somebody is living with immediate regret.

Despite his 2nd place appearance in today's standings, Seth Bancroft is the early favorite for the AGLOA award, with just 786 points possible remaining after Day 1 of games.  We'll be watching you closely, Seth.

Things slow down today, as those of us who aren't Cleveland Browns fans get to watch some NFL action.  Back tomorrow at 2:30 for the Miami Beach Bowl between Central Michigan & Tulsa.  92.1% of Bowl Pick 'Em participants went with the Golden Hurricane, so a definite opportunity for a few folks to climb up the leader board.

Baddest Bowl Pick 'Em Ever v11.0 is here!

Welcome back for another edition of Baddest Bowl Pick 'Em Ever -- the 11th consecutive December/January campaign designed for college football junkies and gambling degenerates alike.  So dust off that bottle of bourbon and pour yourself a few fingers worth, because you've got family staying with you this Christmas and you're gonna need a little money riding on that Eastern Michigan/Old Dominion Bahamas Bowl tilt to get you through.

The 2016 football season is already a success in my book -- just ask Jim Harbaugh.  But that season is officially over.  Now it's BOWL SEASON, and that means it's time to throw away everything you thought you learned about football over the past three months.  I don't care who you beat in September.  I don't care how dynamic your offense is.  Analytics aren't relevant here.  The real question you need to answer is, "How in the hell do D.J. Durkin and Steve Addazio get the Terrapins and Eagles fired up to play a football game on December 26th in Detroit, MI in front of 3,500 spectators?"  Answer that, and you just might have what it takes to walk away with some dough.

Rules haven't changed, but I'll reiterate them here anyhow:

Entry fee is $10 and there is no limit on the number of forms you can submit.

Preferred payment method is two crisp five dollar bills. You can also PayPal me at:

or send me a check to:

Kenon Carter
4901 Castlestone Dr.
Dublin, OH 43016

Please try to have forms to me by Friday, December 16th at 6:00 PM EST. I will accept forms up until kickoff at 12:00 PM Eastern on the 17th, but prefer to have them a little in advance.

Rules are as follows:
Pick the outright winner of all 42 Bowl Games (no point spreads), including the BCS National Championship game.

You will assign confidence points to each selection. Assign 42 points to the pick with which you are MOST confident. Assign 1 confidence point to the pick with which you are LEAST confident.

The participant with the most points WINS!

S/he who finishes last will win the Angie Guidi Lack of Achievement Award, which is really hard to do. I encourage you to submit a secondary form in an attempt to finish dead last. Harder than you think, tough guy.

Payouts will be contingent upon the number of participants and announced on Saturday, December 17th.

Last year's winners and payouts:

Chris Predieri1st$510
Curt Wininger2nd$250
Eric Fox3rd$150
Mike MacKim4th$100
Richard Tober5th$60
Congrats to Larry Frischen for winning the Angie Guidi Lack of Achievement Award with a pool low of 303 points.  The next WORST effort was 57 points away.  Staggering and shameful, Larry.  I'm proud of you.
